A cathedral has a large, circular stained glass window. A visitor measures the window and calculates that it has a circumference of 12.56 yards. What is the windows area
First, we find the diameter. 12.56 divided by 3.14 = 4. Next, find the radius. 4 divided by 2 = 2. Then, use the formula to calculate the area. 2 times 2 times 3.14 = 12.56 is your area. In this case, the area and the circumference are the same. Sometimes that is not that case though. Hope it helps! :)
