a mood swing is an abrupt and apparently unaccountable change of mood.
Say for instance you are mad one minute and then the next minute you are happy, and then the next minute you are sad, that would be a mood swing.

Its a change in moods.. One minute ur happy than like an hour later your depressed.. Its also called Bi-Polar buuut "Mood Swings" is the slang term..
