It's ironic that in the end he killed himself, even though everyone admired and praised him. They even wished to be in his place, and hoped for the life he had.

The irony of the poem "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson is found in the end of the poem. What makes it ironic is because Richard Cory was a person admired by everyone and is someone that everyone else wanted to be, but one calm summer night, he went home and put a bullet through his head.
