Please please help me with this answer

In Troy's class there are 3 more boys than girls. There are 33 students in all. How many boys are there in Troy's class?

15 girls and 18 boys in the class

Boys : x

Girls : x - 3

Total : x + ( x - 3 ) = 33

x + x - 3 = 33

2x - 3 = 33

2x = 33 + 3 = 36

x = 36 / 2 = 18 boys

18 - 3 = 15 girls

18 + 15 = 33
